Not an explosion, but a focus.
Hate is not the opposite of love. To hate means to love something, someone so much you would destroy, kill, obliterate anything that threatens that which you love. Hatred is but an explosion of overwhelming love. Therefore, apathy, death of one’s purpose in life, is the opposite of love.
